Welcome to IBM Smart Business Technical Update for February 2009.

As a reminder this presentation contains information on plans and work in progress by IBM which may change prior to any public announcements. The information in this presentation must be treated as IBM confidential and is not to be shared with individuals or organizations not attending this presentation.

Today’s technical update will cover a variety of topics which will give you insight into some of the changes that are occurring in 2009 with IBM Smart Business offerings. John Gressett will speak about IBM Smart Market and how to get the most from this online community. Randy Grimm will discuss updates to the software pack for IBM Smart Business offerings, followed by an overview of the changes for IBM Smart Cube by Bob Sherwood. Finally, John Gressett will make some closing remarks and tell you where to find more information about IBM Smart Business.

Good morning, good afternoon and good evening everyone. This is John Gressett from the IBM Start Business Technical Support team. For this section of the presentation for the technical updates I am going to be focusing on IBM Smart Market. We feel that this is a key part of the overall IBM Smart Business offering in that it’s intended to form communities within all blows who are interested in IBM Smart Market.

With that as a quick, short introduction let me turn to slide five.

As you look at slide five you will see that there is a nice graphic there of what the IBM Smart Market looks like. This website is really intended to be kind of a one-stop shopping for all questions that anyone might have about the IBM Smart Business offering. It is for sellers, it’s for customers and it’s really honestly for everyone.

The real easy way to get there is www.ibm.com/smartmarket. It couldn’t be any easier. Depending on which geography that you happen to be and it will sometimes switch to the appropriate country. As you look at that website there are four highlighted tabs there at the top of the screen. One is marketplace and that’s a good place for people to go to kind of look around and explore the different options that are available to them within the IBM Start Business offering. It’s also a good place to investigate applications from different ISVs. The one that I’m going to be talking a lot about is the second tab which is community.

I will skip that for the moment and move on to about IBM Smart Business. There you can find any number of articles and information about the IBM Smart Business offering. One that is certainly very dear and near to my heart is customer support. There is a good comprehensive site upon which you can find the pre-sales and post sales customer support information. My suggestion to you relative to this slide just explore. It’s really designed to be explored and made very easy and simple to use.

Obviously if there is anything that you don’t like there is a contact button at the bottom of the screen. To do use that often and frequently if you do see something that could use some improvement. Although to be honest with you there are some other great options within the form to make any requests that you might have.

So on that note let’s turn to slide six.

Now as we look at slide six this is what happens when you strike the community tab at the top of the screen. And here you just see all sorts of things that are very interesting to those that are interested in IBM Smart Business offering. I guess the first thing I would point out to you is that there are a whole bunch of featured blogs that are available. As you click on that you can go in and see some really articles like as you recall them from several different sources and some of them have been contracted by IBM and others have just come on and done some technical writing for us. Honestly a lot of these blogs are really quite interesting. I would encourage you to strike on the featured blog icon that is their and it will take you straight over to some of the blogs that have been posted and we will certainly keep you up-to-date on the latest information relative to IBM Start Business.

The next one down on slide six is the forms and this is one that I want to spend a little extra time on. Right now the forms have been up and running and there are questions out there with answers attached to them. There has been an interchange in the forms that we have been made available earlier this year. As you will strike on the forum tab you will be led to three different forum possibilities. The first one is your feedback. That’s all about letting us know how IBM Smart Business offerings are doing for you and what your experiences have been. We are obviously very interested in your experiences. These experiences can range for how you like IBM Smart Market, how you’d like IBM Smart Business offerings that you have installed and just about anything is free for discussion within that particular form.

The next forum down the list is tech direct and tech direct is all about that technical question that you have and one that you would want to direct to an expert if they were sitting in the room with you. So do please use tech direct as a good place to post any general technical question that you have there. In fact as you go into that forum you will see lots of questions already the people have asked with fairly good answers already posted within that forum.

The next forum that is available for all abusers is the IBM Smart Business Basics forum. Here this forum is really for people that are brand-new to IBM Smart Business and really want to have a more basic or general question that probably is of non-technical bases. So please do use that form also as well for that purpose.

The next thing on the list as we look at slide six is upcoming events. This is a nice place to kind of see when the next conference that is coming up where IBM Smart Business might be featured or discuss. Last not least we have some featured forums were featured testimonials I should say.

As I look back however at the smart market forums please do join in the community. As you go into a forum there will be a button in the upper right-hand corner as you go into the forum that says join the community. This is a great way to keep up and engage with that particular forum so you can keep up with all the latest things that are happening with the form. When you are in that particular location you can also click off in the far left side of the screen a members link which will actually list all the members that are part of that form. If you are real curious you can actually look at some of their profiles.

Last but not least as you go into the forum there are several options to post a topic. If you did want to add something to the forum all you need to do is strike on post topic and that will allow you to put an entry straight into the forum. As you might expect with most forums there is a reply function so if there is something in particular that you want to either answer or comment on that is certainly a great way to do it.

I think to some up this page, this is a nice starting point if you are trying to interact with other interested parties when it comes to IBM Smart Business. Whether it’s through the blogs, the forms that I would like to encourage you to use or are getting the latest on coming events are testimonials, really this community page is probably a really good place to start.

I guess last but not least as you see at the top of the screen the two URLs, one for the US and the other one for India that will get you straight there. Generally speaking if you could just remember www.ibm.com/smartmarket that will always take you to the right place.

Now as we turn to slide seven there is one thing that you have to do in order to really effectively use the community and that is to log on to Smart Market. Like a lot of these kinds of things that you run into on the web all of times, the login procedure has been through to make it very easy for you and very quickly to get yourself registered and signed in. As you can see the circles item up there if you have a sign in is pretty simple. All you do is type in your username and password and away you go. If for some reason you haven’t registered yet, the registration process is extremely simple. Just click on register and type everything in and you will be ready to go.

The only caveat I would give you relative to the forums and the community and is be careful of the browser that you are using. As you can see on slide seven there are some browsers that are supported. Check to see whether your browser fits within those parameters. We have had some problems honestly with some folks using a browser that did not work and we are working very hard to clear up all those difficulties for those who don’t use some of the browsers that are stated as being supported.

Our ultimate objective is really to make it so that any browser will work for currently we are laboring under some restrictions in that area. So do take a quick look at the supported browsers but at any time if you are having problems do let us know. Go into one of the forums, maybe perhaps even the feedback or the IBM Smart Business Basics, either one of those and let us know what your experience is.

Now as we really kind of finish out and look at slide eight, really the message here is very simple. To really come to get the most out of IBM Smart Market, do go into the community and I would encourage anyone who is interested in the IBM Smart Business offering whether or not you are a business partner, and ISV, a customer, anyone who’s really interested, this is a great place to get engaged with people who are also interested in IBM Smart Business. It’s a great place to learn, a great place to post a question to get answers back and interact with others and share your thoughts and really see what the latest events are.

So do see the backup information for some very helpful topics and examples especially with regard to how you get to the forums and how you post to the forums, there is more information in the backup.

Now I think I will turn it over to Randy Grimm.

What’s new about the IBM Smart Business Software Pack?

IBM Smart Business Software Pack for SUSE. Everything below the dollar line on this chart represent code and function that comes with the IBM Smart Cube. Above the dotted line or optionally purchase functions or products. I want to draw your attention to the light blue box above the dotted line. This is what’s new about the IBM Smart Business Software Pack. First of all there is a new IBM Smart Business Collaboration Software Pack that delivers e-mail and collaboration user licensing. This can optionally be purchased from the passport fulfillment system. In addition IBM Smart Business DB2/WAS Software Pack is also now available delivering the application serving and database capabilities that our enterprise customers are looking for.

It’s specific to note on the IBM Smart Business DB2 WAS Software Pack, that function used to be below the to line but now it’s an optionally purchased set of capabilities. Again purchased through passport.

IBM Smart Business Software Pack for i.

Everything below the dotted line is delivered function available at the IBM Smart Cube today. Everything above the dotted line are optionally purchased products and functionality. The light blue area above the dotted line represents the e-mail and collaboration user licensing that can optionally be purchased through Passport Ordering and Fulfillment System.

This chart details the Passport and Order Fulfillment Structure for the various parts associated with IBM Smart Business.

On the last the part numbers for the Start Business Software Pack for SUSE and on the right is parts for the IBM Smart Business Software Pack for i. Remember on the left-hand side, the bottom grouping of part numbers is brand new and the DB2 WAS functionality is no longer included with IBM Smart Cube, rather these part numbers are now optionally available through the passport, order and fulfillment system.

In summary the changes for the IBM Smart Business Software Pack for Intel-based Smart Cubes, DB2/WAS licensing has been removed from the Software Pack meaning it is no longer included as part of the IBM Smart Cube.

The second bullet ISVs are required that the DB2/WAS must link their product listing the new DB2/WAS listing now available at Smart Market.

The third bullet, the price of an IBM Smart Queue is going down because of the DB2 and WAS functionality that was removed.

The fourth bullet is smart record listings for both collaboration and DB2 and WAS are now available in the Smart Market for our customers to shop and purchase.

IBM Smart Business Solutions.

What is an IBM Smart Business Solution? If you look on the left-hand side of this chart IBM Smart Business Solution can be defined as vendor application software, IBM Smart Cube and Smart Business Services and IBM Smart Support. Those are the four components we want customers to shop for and purchase as part of their initial IBM Smart Business solution.

On the right-hand side are additional capabilities and complementary offerings that can also be purchased additionally and optionally to complement the IBM Smart Business solution.

This chart represents a reminder of how the channel works for ordering and fulfillment of the different Smart Business Solutions element. On the left starts the customer through the shopping portal at Smart Market, identifying interest through the customer relationship management system and leads being passed down through the value net or innovative solution providers of ISV channel and IBM Hardware Resellers.

Each of those groups you can see would purchase if the elements this text are Business Solutions resulting in fulfillment and invoices to the customer.

Let’s take a couple of minutessjust to review the IBM Smart Cube Quarter Scenarios for Power Technology.

Initial Solution Order.

Step 1: The ISV channel will place a Vendor Application Software order via the vendor order process.
Step 2: The ISV channel or IBM Hardware Reseller will order services from a service provider.
Step 3: The IBM Hardware Reseller places an order with the IBM distributor for an IBM Smart Cube.

The table below shows the different options for the IBM Smart Cube in a power technology environment.

Step 4: the IBM projects office recognize that the hardware order was placed, contact the seller for customer e-mail address. As a result the IBM project office e-mails the customer a form that they need to fill as calls the Passport Advantage Express Agreement. When a form is returned an automatic zero priced order for part D05PMLL is passed over to passport. This means the channel does not have to place any orders in passport. The function is simply included with the IBM Smart Cube and step 4 will automatically place that order in Passport as part of the process.

Post Smart Cube Order for Collaboration Users.

Remember Sametime and Domino user licensing is not included the IBM Smart Cube. Any requirement that the customer has to use Sametime and Domino capabilities, a.k.a. collaboration function, the customer must purchase and order through the channel additional collaboration user licenses.

IBM Smart Cube Order Scenarios for Intel Technology.

Initial Solution Order.

Step 1: The ISV channel places of vendor application software order via the vendor order process.
Step 2: The ISV channel and IBM hardware reseller will order services from various service providers.
Step 3: The IBM hardware reseller places an order with the IBM Distributor for an IBM Smart Cube.

The table below represents the three Smart Cubes that are available and you will hear more about in the later section.

Step 4: again, the IBM project office will recognize the hardware order, contact the seller for customer e-mail address to use. They will then contact the customer providing a form that they must fill out from the Passport Advantage Express Agreement Registration. The completion of that form and the returning of the form through e-mail will result in a zero price order for part D05Poll and passport. That means that the channel has no requirement to place any orders in passport for the initial solution order.

Post Smart Cube Order for Collaboration Users.

Remember, user licensing for Sametime and Dominos not included in the IBM Smart Cube. That means any customer that has a requirements to use functionality, collaboration functionality such as e-mail or messaging is required to place an order with their channel for collaboration user licensing.

Post Smart Cube Order for DB2/WAS Value Units.

Remember what’s new, DB2 and WAS functionality has now been removed from the IBM Smart Cube. It is no longer included as part of the initial purchase. DB2 and WAS licensing for processor value units must be optionally order and purchased through a channel.

Hello, my name is Robert Sherwood. I would like to tell you about the IBM Smart Business hardware platforms known as the IBM Smart Cube. Each ISV application in Smart Business is sold with a recommended IBM Smart Cube. The ISV works with IBM to determine the appropriate Smart Cube platform to list and market with their particular application. IBM offers both Intel, x86 and Power based Smart Cube solutions ranging from a single core configuration up to eight core configurations.

Over the next few slides I will show you more detail about Smart Cube Platforms available in Smart Business.

First I will describe the Intel x86 Smart Cubes. IBM offers to models of x86 Smart Cubes, the 7200 and 7401. The IBM 7200 shown here is a 2 Core System that has a single Intel dual core Xeon E310 3GHz processor with 4GB of memory. It also has 4 250 gig 3 ½ inch 7200 RPM hot-swap SATA hard drives. It has a single 401 watt power supply. 7400 include 500 GB removable data IDD backup drive. We also include a Fareham RAID card with a battery backup.

This system comes preloaded from the IBM factory with our Smart Business Software Pack which has components for integration framework, LDAP, web serving, Java, file and print serving, firewall, backup/recovery and the operating system. The Smart Cube 7200 can be ordered as the IBM 9233 – 32U where U is the designation for the United States. This letter may very by country or region.

On this slide we show the detailed components of the IBM Software Pack which is included preloaded with the IBM Start Cube. Software Pack includes Novell, SUSE, Linux in enterprise server 1.1 and then pre-integrated software components including the ISS Proventia and Zend, Domino Utility Server, Tivoli Storage Manager, Tivoli Storage Manager for mail and the Integration Framework.

There are also two additional Software Pack options available. The first Software Pack contains WAS application server 6.1 and DB2 Express Server Edition 9.5. The second is Collaboration Software Pack including Domino Collaboration Express 8.0.2 and Sametime entry 8.0.1.

On this slide we show the second of IBM Smart Cube 86 offering, the 7401. Smart Cube 7401 is a more powerful offering designed for applications requiring more computing power, more storage and more performance. The 7401 features an Intel x3330 Quad Core 2.66 GHz processor and eight gig of memory. It also has four 500 gauge 3 1/2 inch 7200 RPM hot-swap SATA hard drives. It includes a single 1 TB removable IDB backup drive. Also included is a 430 W redundant power supply for increased reliability. The 7401 also includes the same Fareham RAID card and battery backup as the 7200 Smart Cube. Additionally the 7401 includes the net extreme to 1000 express G single port Ethernet adapter. Both the 7200 and the 7401 come with a one year warranty.

Here we see that the IBM Smart Cube 7401 also comes with the same software stack as the 7200. Software stack includes the Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 1.1 and the same pre-integrated software components, Proventia, Zend, Domino Utility Server, to the Storage Manager, TSN for Mail, and the integration framework. Again the same two optional software packs are available, the first for the DB2 WAS Software Pack and then the second one was a collaboration Software Pack.

This slide shows a handy side-by-side comparison of the Smart Cube 7200 and 7401 describing the specific processors, memory and storage capabilities of each offering. As you can see the Smart Cubes come with a one-year warranty and a one-year software subscription, Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 1.1.

As IBM continues to expand Smart Business in the SMB space we will continue to grow the breadth of our Smart Cube offerings. This next slide shows two models of the proposed two the socket offering. These systems are aimed at ISVs requiring up to eight course of processing power and large amounts of memory and storage. Both models can have up to two Intel Nehalem quad core processors providing an eight core solution for compute intensive multithreaded applications. Both models are based on the Intel Tylersburg Chipset.

The first model has up to 12 DIMMs or 96 gig of memory arranged in six DIMMs preprocessor. It could also have up to 43 ½ inch SATA or SAS hard drives or it can have up to 82 ½ inch small form factor SAS hard drives.

The second model has even more capability. Again, with two Intel Nehalen quad core processors and based on the Tylersburg Chipset, the second model offers up to 16 DIMMs or 128 gig of memory arranged in 8 DIMMs per processor. For increased storage this model also offers up to eight 3 ½ inch SAS or SATA hard drives or up to 16 2 ½ inch small form factor hard drives. This second model offers a single 920 W power supply standard and an optional second power supply for redundancy. It also offers like path diagnostics for increased reliability.

Please note that while these models are proposed, this is not a commitment by IBM to provide them.

I would now like to spend a few minutes on our Power Platforms. IBM offers three models of Smart Cube Power Platforms ranging from the 7277 single core model to the 7278 two court and the 7279 four core models. All Power Smart Cubes come preloaded with the IOS operating system and Smart Business Software Pack which includes the integration framework, LDPAP, Web serving, Java, Middleware Application Server, database, file serving, print serving, Firewall, backup/recovery and the operating system.

This slide shows the details of the software loaded on the Power platform. The system comes preloaded from the factory with the i5OS V6R1 and then pre-integrated software components including Proventia, Zend, Domino Utility Server, Tivoli Storage Manager, Storage Manager for Mail, Application server WAS, DB2 Express, Integration Framework. Since DB2 Express and WAS Application Server are included they are not offered as an optional software pack. However collaboration software pack is still offered with Domino Collaboration Express 8.02 and Sametime entry 8.0.1. All systems come with a one-year warranty and a one-year software subscription.

This slide is an easy side-by-side comparison of the three Power Smart Cubes. As you can see they are available with 25, 50 and 150 user entitlements. You can use this slide to help determine which Power Smart Cube best suits your application.

I hope you have found this brief description of the IBM Smart Business Smart Cubes helpful.
